Mike McCoy photo - Robert Holt, the EMCON employee injured in last week's accident at the local plant, is shown being placed aboard the emergency medical helicopter that transported him from Dexter Municipal Airport to a Cape Girardeau facility on Thursday.

A 46-year-old employee of EMCON Technologies in Dexter (formerly Arvin Industries) was taken by ambulance and then airlifted from the Dexter Municipal Airport to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau following a work-related accident last week.

Robert Holt, a 25-year veteran of the local automotive plant, remains in ICU at the Cape medical facility, where according to family members, he has undergone two surgeries due to injuries sustained in the accident.

According to plant manager, Joe Galemmo, the accident is currently under investigation.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Holt family at this time," Galemmo said.

Holt is employed as an electrician at the local facility.

My goodness...if some of you could step back from yourselves and read some of the comments posted in regards to Mr. Holts you would most likely see that you sound nosy instead of concerned. Mr. Holts sustained apparently a very serious injury at work!! Do we really need to know WHO'S fault it was? Or what part of his body was injured? Emcon is a factory for goodness sake. factories are a very dangerous places to work. There are huge machines running in there and it's very loud, heavy auto parts actually hanging over head! However Emcon or Arvin as most of us know it is a very safety orientated organization! I know, I've been through the plant and have seen it first hand. So please...just keep your thoughts and prayers in mind for Robert and his family. I'm also very sure if their was anyone at fault, that person did not mean for it to happen and that person needs your prayer and forgiveness not fingers pointed at him! Let's come together as a community and send our best wishes to the family. Kindly.

mizzou_mom...what a small world. I'm sure, if you worked at Tysons at that time, you know my dad. He was the man who stayed w/ the injured man keeping him awake until help arrived. I'm sure he would remember you too.

Has anyone received an update on how Robert is doing? I am sure by now that an investigation of the accident has been completed, does anyone know any specifics?

I remember years ago when I worked with the USDA at Tyson when that guy fell into the auger and lost his leg. I heard it was an error caused by maintenance but I don't know that for a fact. I do know many of the maintenance workers were pretty inept though so it would not surprise me.

I don't know him but I know his daughter and well since marriage recently am now in law related to her, I hope and pray the best for him and his family. I heard that it was a maintenance guys fault don't know if it's true but if so, I hope they fired him.
