James Clinton "Jake" Cross

James Clinton "Jake" Cross, son of the late Lawson Cross and Lora Young Cross, was born on March 13, 1924, near Bernie and died in the Golden Living Center at Malden on Friday, June 20, 2008, at the age of 84.

Mr. Cross was a member of the Bernie Nazarene Church, a former employee of General Motors, a veteran of the United States Navy Seabees and a resident of rural Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Welta Young on Jan. 18, 2005, at Clearwater, Fla. Mrs. Cross survives of the home near Dexter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Steve Cross of Clarkston, Mich.; one daughter, Deborah Clarkson of Metamore, Mich.; one step-son, Bob Young of Bernie; two step-daughters, Margaret Cox of Bernie and Linda Quinn of Dexter; one brother, Glen Cross of Clearwater, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Arrangements are by Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
