County Commission meets with Sikeston architect

Friday, June 27, 2008

The Stoddard County Commissioners met Monday morning with the architect who is designing the new county building that will soon be constructed on the courthouse square in Bloomfield.

Dale A. Rogers, President of Robert Stearnes and Associates, visited with the Commissioners and showed plans for what is expected to be a rather large new facility.

The new building, located between Court and Prairie streets, will likely cost the county between $2.7-3 million.

The Stoddard County Government Building, as it has been dubbed, will house the County Clerk, Assessor, Collector, Recorder, Prosecuting Attorney and will have meeting facilities for the County Commission. The building will also supply ample storage space for the county's documents.

Rogers said the building would be ready to put out for bids on August 4 and they expect to have the bids in by August 26.

"That should give ample time for construction to begin in September," he said.
