Lily Pearl Tolbert

Lily Pearl Tolbert, daughter of the late Virl E. and Gladys Cranford Adams, was born in Portageville on Aug. 3, 1927, and died at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center on Friday, July 4, 2008, at the age of 80.

Mrs. Tolbert had lived in St. Louis for many years and moved to Poplar Bluff in 1984. She had lived in Puxico the past two years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Puxico.

On Oct. 22, 1984, she was married to Dale Dwight Tolbert in Poplar Bluff.

Surviving are her husband, Dale Dwight Tolbert of Puxico; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; two step-brothers, Lester Gremard of California and Ervin Gremard of Portageville; two half-brothers, Connie Adams of North Carolina and James Adams of Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jo Ann Lynch; two brothers, Billy Adams and Virl E. Adams, Jr.; one sister, Louise Butler; and one step-sister, Ann Stewart.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2008, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Gene Lancaster of Risco officiating.

Interment followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
