Alan "Brownie" Brown

Alan Lawrence "Brownie" Brown, 52, formerly of Dexter and a resident of Sikeston, died at 6:31 a.m. Sunday, July 13, 2008, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born July 22, 1955, at Dexter to the late James Elvis and Betty June Akins Brown.

Mr Brown had worked as a brick mason for the Danny Dowdy Masonry and Boner Masonry, both in Dexter. He had also worked for Sonny's Solid Waste Service Company in Sikeston, and was an honorary member of the Sikeston Jaycees.

He is survived by his fianceť Diana McConnell Cooper, of the home in Sikeston; her two sons, Justin Morton and William Cooper, of the home in Sikeston; one daughter, Lauren Brown of Dexter; and three brothers, Scott Brown, Tom Brown and Rick Brown, all of Dexter.

Visitation will be from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the Entertainment Barn at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo Grounds.

A memorial service will be held there at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Lonny Mittag, pastor of the Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter, officiating.

Nunnelee Funeral Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
