Derrel Lewis Cloninger

Derrel Lewis Cloninger Sr., son of the late Claud Elvon Cloninger and Della Alline Hagar Cloninger, was born on January 15, 1952 in St. Louis and died at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the age of 56.

Mr. Cloninger was in the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He had been a welder through his life and was a resident of Bernie.

Survivors include: one son, Derrel Lewis Cloninger, Jr. of Bernie; one daughter, Kirstie Alline Miller of Taylorville, Ill.; two brothers, Charles Riggs of Taylorville, Ill. and Keith Cloninger of Bernie; three grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James David Riggs and one sister, Conda Lou Smith.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, on Friday, July 25, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted at 1 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie with Rev. Ivan Mekan officiating.
