Lela M. Dickerson

Lela M. Dickerson, daughter of the late Eugene Lane and Ida Mae Cole Lane, was born on April 3, 1924, at Vinson and died on July 29, 2008, in her residence at Dexter at the age of 84.

Mrs. Dickerson was of the Baptist faith, a homemaker and resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Loyd Eugene Dickerson on May 8, 1943, at Dexter. Mr. Dickerson preceded her in death on July 13, 2001.

She is survived by one son, Loyd Dale Dickerson of Bowling Green; three daughters, Shirley Pyles of Dexter, Jean Gowen of Albuquerque, N.M., and Linda Kay Thompson of St. Charles; one brother, Delmar Lane of Dexter; one sister, Beulah Brown of Poplar Bluff; one step-brother, Frank Bolin of Essex; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Bertha Lane; one grandson; two brothers, Melvin Lane and Walter Lane; and two sisters, Mildred Renfro and Hazel Norman.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2008, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ken McAnulty officiating.

Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
