Mr. Cookson had lived in Puxico before moving to Granite City, Ill., and had lived in St. Clair the past several years. He enjoyed riding his Harley.
Surviving are three sons, Tim Harbin of Puxico, Scott Cookson and Brad Cookson, both of Granite City, Ill.; one daughter, Marva Cookson of Dexter; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marvell Wheetley of Puxico.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dewain Cookson in 1981 and Billy Gene Cookson in 2006.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico with Rev. Chuck Clark of Union officiating.
Interment followed in the Puxico Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico in charge of all arrangements.
