Alvin Faries

Alvin Faries, son of the late Ishmael B. and Maggie Pearl Knodell Faries, was born in Mingo on March 19, 1919, and died at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the age of 89.

Mr. Faries had lived in the Puxico area all his life. He was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Wappapello. He was a 1937 graduate of Puxico High School, a former member of the Puxico School Board, an honorary member of the FFA, and he enjoyed fishing.

On Dec. 18, 1940, he was married to Lavada Pearl Crunk in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2006.

Surviving are two sons, Bill Faries of Puxico and Ron Faries of Broseley; one daughter, Pat Dunivan of Puxico; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Royal Faries of Arnold.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Randy Faries.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with Dr. Danny Dunivan of Oakland City, Ind., officiating.

Interment will be held in the Puxico Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
