Elva A. McRoy, daughter of the late Thomas Lee Garner and Amanda Trammel Garner, was born on Dec. 2, 1919, near Dexter and died in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at the age of 88.

Mrs. McRoy was a member of the Southwest Church of the Nazarene at Dexter, a homemaker and a resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Carl McRoy on June 8, 1946, at Piggott, Ark. Mr. McRoy preceded her in death on July 22, 1983.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Melissa McRoy of Dexter; five grandchildren, Tony, Sherry, Terry, Micko and Alana; eight step-grandchildren, Roxanna, Rosalie, Randy, Rhonda, Rita, Rick Colton and Shelby; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Acton; one step-great-granddaughter, Jamie Arnold; one brother; and four sisters.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ed Stoner officiating.

Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
