Christine Baker, daughter of the late R. L. Towery and Lottie Caroline Kenneday Towery was born on February 1, 1922 at Vanduser and died in her residence at Idalia on August 26, 2008 at the age of 86.

Mrs. Baker was of the Church of Christ preference, a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a resident of Idalia.

She was united in marriage to Joseph Allen Baker, Sr. on December 25, 1939 at Caruthersville. Mr. Baker preceded her in death on March 11, 2000.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Joseph Allen Baker, Jr. of Dexter; one daughter, Pamela Manwaring of Sikeston; four grandchildren: Shawn Allen Baker of Dexter, Roger D. Manwaring of St. Louis, Heather Baker Hopper of Reagan, Tennessee and Kevin James Baker of St. Peters; and two great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Towery, Lyman Towery and Reith Towery; by two sisters, Susie Marshall and Juanita Minich.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2008. An Order of Eastern Star service will be conducted at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2008 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Dale Grissom officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
