Fairy V. Riley

Fairy V. Riley, daughter of the late Clarence W. Smith and Hattie Hull Smith, was born on July 22, 1918, in Bernie and died on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Malden at the age of 90.

Mrs. Riley was of the General Baptist faith, a farmer, beautician, cake decorator, and a resident of rural Bernie.

She was united in marriage to George Riley on March 7, 1939, at Bloomfield. Mr. Riley preceded her in death on March 11, 1987.

She is survived by one son, Larry Riley of Bernie; one brother, Clarence Houston Smith of Bernie; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson; and one sister, Lois Fay Buck.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.
