Hurlen Lentz, son of the late Robert and Sarah Bryant Lentz, was born at Cleveland, Ark., on June 20, 1937, and died at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at the age of 71.
Mr. Lentz spent his younger life in the Essex Community and was a graduate of Essex High School. He then moved to St. Louis and retired from General Motors after 30 years of employment. On Jan. 4, 1958, he was married to Freda Patterson.
Survivors include his wife Freda Lentz of the home in Winfield; three sons, Randy Lentz of Detroit, Mich., Mark Lentz of Orlando, Fla., and Kevin Lentz of Winfield; one daughter, Kimberly Mayer of Troy; two brothers, Audie Lentz of St. Charles and Bobbie Lentz of Blue Eye; two sisters, Veda Siler and Romania Gibbons, both of O'Fallon; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Becky; and three brothers, Noel, Benny and Dennis.
Funeral services were held in Troy.
