Noreen Hyslop photo A local woman, Hope Bryant, was extricated from the passenger side of her vehicle following this accident Friday afternoon.

Hope Bryant, the 26-year-old Dexter woman who sustained injuries in a wreck on Highway 25 Friday afternoon, is reportedly improving at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

According to a report from the woman's mother, Judy Reed, Bryant sustained three breaks in her pelvic bone, two fractured vertebrae and considerable bruising and lacerations, but is "showing steady progress each day."

The accident occurred as Bryant was attempting to exit a private drive off of Highway 25, headed northeast and failed to yield to an oncoming vehicle, the police report states. She was struck on the driver's side by southbound car driven by 56-year-old Michael Goodman from Campbell. Goodman had two young passengers in his vehicle. No one in the Goodman vehicle sustained injuries.

Bryant was pinned in the driver's seat upon impact and Dexter Fire Department's extrication team worked for several minutes to remove the front passenger door in order to remove her from the car. She was taken by ambulance to Missouri Southern Healthcare and later transferred to the Cape medical center, where she remained on Monday.
