Raymond Coatney, 68, died Oct. 2, 2008 at his Sikeston home.

He was born August 21, 1940 in Charter Oak, the son of the late James Wayne and Lola Mae Goodwin Coatney and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Mr. Coatney was a Sikeston business owner for 20 years affiliated with Louise's Super Cut-Beauty Supply and Hair and Tanning Salon, and he had been a truck driver for Schwerman Trucking.

On Oct. 26, 1963, he married Louise Whittley in Oran and she survives of the home in Sikeston.

Other survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Raymond Scott Coatney of Dexter and Mark Shawn and Danett Coatney of Sikeston; one daughter, Lisa Dawn Coatney of Sikeston; two brothers, Wayne Junior Coatney of Farmington, and Phillip Lynn Landers of Morehouse; one stepsister, Bonnie Hann of Dexter; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one stepbrother, Earl William "Butch" Landers, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008 at Ponder Funeral Home with parish prayers at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston with Fr. Scott Sunnenberg and Monsignor Bill Stanton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with full military honors.
