John Franklin Powell, the son of the late John F. and Pearl E. Kimes Powell, was born in Puxico on Jan. 1, 1918, and died at his home in Puxico on Oct.14, 2008, at the age of 90.
Mr. Powell had lived in Puxico all of his life. He had worked at Dean's Service Station for 22 years and was a member of the Church of Christ in Asherville. He was a coon hunter and loved gardening and trading coon dogs.
On Nov. 3, 1962, he was married to Juvata Looney in Puxico.
Surviving are his wife Juvata Powell of Puxico, one son, Johnny C. Powell of Puxico; one daughter, Mary Ann Greer of Puxico; one step-son, Ronald D. Looney of Puxico; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Greer; three sisters, Fredia, Melba, and Rita; and three brothers, Freeman, Carlos and Frances.
Visitation is scheduled to take place on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, after 6 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at 10 a.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with Bro. Terry Stockman of Sikeston officiating.
Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
