Dwight Wilbur "Bud" Young, 81, of Glasford, Ill., died at 8:35 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at his residence.

He was born on June 22, 1927, in Flint, Mich., to Milo W. and Jessie L. Arnold Young. Bud was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He married Sharon Coats on Oct. 8, 1949, and she survives.

Bud was of the Christian faith. He was employed as an inspection supervisor for Caterpillar for 35 years, retiring in 1983.

Bud is survived by his children: Ronnie L. Young, Terry (Diana) Young, Allan W. Young, Tracy D. (Jacqueline) Young, all of Glasford, Ill., and Hollye C. (Ross) Herndon of Dunlap; his grandchildren, Tera (Justin) Sprout, Luke Young, Bethany Cooper, Matthew Smith, Rchel Herndon, Kaci Young, Kaitlyn Young, Arianna Young, Alanni Young, and Melissa Young; two great-grandchildren, Logan Sprout and Hailye Young; two brothers, Glen (Donna) Young and Donald (Ann) Young and one sister, Alma Gean (Hershell) Loafman of Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Kristen Noel; one brother, Milo W. Young, Jr.; and one sister, Wanda Stewart.

Bud loved the outdoors, hunting turkeys and deer, mushrooming, hunting ginseng, gardening, and playing the harmonica. A big part of Bud's life was his grandkids.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at Glasford United Methodist Church and one hour prior to services on Friday.

Funeral services for Bud will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Glasford United Methodist Church with Rev. Walter Wilkins officiating.

Interment will be in Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford. American Legion Post #35 will conduct military honors at the graveside.
