Alberta Melvina Perkins

Alberta Melvina Cowart Perkins was born June 18, 1925, at St. Louis and died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Lauderdale in Ripley, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late Jess Mitchell and Carrie Gulledge Mitchell.

On Oct. 4, 1943, she was married to Raymond Cowart at St. Charles. He died on Dec. 5, 1973. She then married Harold Perkins on July 16, 1979. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Blanchard of Festus and Barbara Coleman of Malden; one son, Bobby Cowart of Dexter; two brothers, Junior Mitchell and Bobby Mitchell, both of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, Billy Lee Cowart; two brothers, Ervin and Vernon Mitchell; four sisters, Imogene Walker, Helen Myers, Connie Dotson and Virginia Rose.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Bradshaw Home in Malden.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Bradshaw Funeral Chapel in Malden with Mr. Dan Hargrave officiating.

Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.
