James William Lawson, son of the late James Elijah and Hattie Alberson Lawson, was born on April 9, 1941, at Essex, and died on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008. in Dexter at the age of 67.
Mr. Lawson was a committee man for Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti, Mich., where he served as a union representative, a veteran of the United States Army where he served in Vietnam and a resident of Dexter.
He was first united in marriage to Roena Eunice Nickell on Oct. 12, 1963, in Ypsilanti, Mich. Mrs. Lawson preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 1993. He was then united in marriage to Yvonne Gourd in Dexter on July 29, 2003. Mrs. Lawson survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife he is survived by one son, James Wade Lawson of Canton, Mich.; two daughters, Surita Robin Sartori and Casondra Sue Ward, both of Ypsilanti, Mich.; two sisters, Treva Porter of Howell, Mich., and Ruth Mouser of Essex; and by 12 grandchildren.
Besides his mother and father, he was preceded in death by one son, Gary Lane Lawson; two brothers, Virgil Lawson and Gary Lawson; and three sisters, Doris Clark, Louella Baird and Charlene Black.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jerry Lawson officiating.
Visitation will then be held on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at the Potter Funeral Home in West Liberty, Ky.
A graveside service will be held on Friday at 1p.m. in the Nickell Cemetery in Morgan County Kentucky.
