Nellie A. Wampler

Nellie A. Wampler, daughter of the late Walter and Armitte Wren Shrum, was born at Puxico on Feb. 10, 1921, and died at Silvis, Ill., on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at the age of 87.

Mrs. Wampler was a former resident of the Bloomfield community but had lived in Colona, Ill., the past several years. In August 1939 she was married to George Pruett, and he preceded her in death on April 5, 1951. On March 24, 1958, she was married to Clinton Wampler, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1978.

Survivors include three sons, Roy Gene Pruett of Colona, Ill., Sammy Wampler of Mansfield, and Ricky Wampler of Andover, Ill.; three daughters, Brenda Hadwin of Savannah, Ga., Marilyn Kinney of Moline, Ill., and Ruth Russell of Springfield; 26 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2008, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Interment followed in the Hollis Cemetery near Bloomfield.
