Robert L. Scherer

Robert L. Scherer, 75, of Dexter was born Aug. 3, 1933, at Heagy, the son of Fred Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Sanders Scherer, and died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at his home.

Robert was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter, the Knights of Columbus and the Bell City Rotary Club. He was a 1951 graduate of Bell City High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Robert and Mona Jones were united in marriage on Feb. 5, 1953 at Dexter, and she survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four sons; David Scherer of Bell City, Danny Scherer of Oran, Greg Scherer of Bloomfield, and Chris Scherer of Oran; a daughter; Gale Janosek of Dallas, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis; a daughter, Regina; six brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter with Father David Dohogne officiating.

Interment will follow in Dexter Cemetery.
