Wilma Courter VanPool

Wilma Courter VanPool, daughter of the late Dan and Willa Segraues Courter, was born on June 3, 1927 in Datalo, Ark., and died on Nov. 5, 2008 at Bloomfield.

She was first married to the late Charles Everett Pruitt and to this union two sons were born and survive; Darris "Gene" Pruitt and Michael Wayne Pruitt. She then married George Clifton "Bud" VanPool on Feb. 21, 1953 in Piggott, Ark., and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1992. A daughter, Anita Louise VanPool, survives.

Mrs. VanPool was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ and a resident of Dexter.

Other survivors include six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two sisters, Wanda Green of Wappapello and Maxine Barber of Dexter.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Rufus Courter, Donald Courter, Billy Courter, W.D. Courter and Ronald Courter and by two sisters, Helen Harris and Aline Thorman.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 from 5-8 p.m., with funeral services conducted on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with Bro. Dale Grissom officiating.
