Alvera Hendrix, daughter of the late Buell Drope and Nona Stacy Drope was born on Oct. 2, 1927 at Holcomb and departed this life at Poplar Bluff, Missouri on Nov. 5, 2008 at the age of 81.
Mrs. Hendrix was a member of the Mt. Powerhouse Church in Poplar Bluff and was the former owner of Dudley Pool and Tarps, and a resident of Dudley.
She was united in marriage to William Hendrix on June 15, 1946 at Piggott, Ark., and he preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 1987.
She is survived by one daughter, Janis Earlewine of High Ridge, by two grandchildren, William Compton of High Ridge and Jennifer Calame of Edwardsville, Ill.,: by five great-grandchildren, Celia Compton, Christian Compton, Samantha Calame, Jessica Calame and Tyler Calame: by one great-great-grandchild, Conner Reed: by two brothers, Verlin Drope of Flint, Mi. and Jerry Drope of Kennett: by five sisters, Shirley Thompson of St. Louis, Farrell Franklin of Williams Lake, Canada, Lawanda Cook of Kosciusko, Miss., Evelyn Hill of Lake City, Fla., and Verble Stephen of Flint, Mi.
Visitation will be held at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday Nov. 8, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Calvary Powerhouse Church in Poplar Bluff with Dr. Ron Webb officiating. Interment will follow in the Dudley Cemetery.
