Wilma Courter VanPool, daughter of the late Dan and Willa Segraves Courter, was born on June 3, 1927, in Datto, Ark., and died on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Bloomfield.

She was first married to the late Charles Everett Pruitt, and to this union two sons were born, Darris "Gene" Pruitt and Michael Wayne Pruitt.

She then married George Clifton "Bud" VanPool on Feb. 21, 1953, in Piggott, Ark., and to this union a daughter was born, Anita Louise VanPool. Bud preceded her in death on July 29, 1992.

Wilma was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ and a resident of Dexter.

Survivors include two sons, Darris "Gene" Pruitt of Wappapello and Michael Wayne Pruitt of Bloomfield; one daughter, Anita Louise Duba of Puxico; six grandchildren, Alysia Gregg of Nixa, Melinda White of Bloomfield, Christy Lee Sindle of Dexter, Melody Ann Patrick of Bloomfield, Dillon Wayne Rickman of Dexter, and Hailey Payne of Puxico; two sisters, Wanda Green of Wappapello and Maxine Barber of Dexter; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Rufus Courter, Donald Courter, Billy Courter, W.D. Courter, and Ronald Courter; and two sisters, Helen Harris and Aline Thorman.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with Bro. Dale Grissom officiating.
