Mr. DeJournett had worked for General Motors in maintenence. He had been a resident of Michigan for 30 years before moving back to Dexter in 1982. He was of the Baptist faith.
On June 13, 1947 he was married to Margaret Popps at Piggott, Ark. She preceded him in death on Oct.18, 2006.
Surviving are one brother, Wiley DeJournett of Dexter and one sister, Kathleen Givens of Cape Girardeau. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Lloyd, Cletus, Woodrow, Clemmer, Cleo, and Milo DeJournett.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter with Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter officiating.
Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
