Margaret O. Lumsden

Margaret O. Lumsden, daughter of the late Buron Overbey and Virginia Luder Overbey, was born on April 14, 1918, in Murray, Ky., and died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 90.

Mrs. Lumsden was a homemaker, attended Murray public school and Murray State University. For 78 years she was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Essex and a former resident of Essex.

On Nov. 25, 1937, she was united in marriage to Harold Lumsden in Murray, Ky. Mr. Lumsden preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1998.

Survivors include one son, Stan Lumsden and his wife Annette of Bloomfield; one daughter, Jane Twaddell and her husband, Jerry of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Heather Powers and her husband, Scott, Clinton Twaddell, his wife, Kristina, Lara Thorn, her husband, Tony, Dr. Boyd Lumsden, his wife Susanne, and Ann Aycock and her husband Brad; nine great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Twaddell, Maggie Thorn, Kasity Twadell, Sophia Thorn, Laurel Powers, Nicholas Powers, Will Thorn, Daniel Aycock and Quin Lumsden.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Overbey Lumsden; and one brother, George Overbey.

Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, in the Dexter Cemetery.

Interment will follow graveside services.

Memorials may be made to the Essex Methodist Church, General Delivery, Essex, Mo. 63846. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
