Richard Walker

Richard Walker, son of Emma Irene Summers Walker of Dexter and the late Cecil Aaron Walker, was born on June 17, 1954, in Poplar Bluff and died on Nov. 24, 2008, in Bloomfield at the age of 54.

Mr. Walker was an employee of W.W. Wood in Dudley, and served 25 years with the Dexter Police Department. He was police chief from Jan. 1, 1993 through April 25, 1997. He was a member of the Stoddard County Ambulance board for many years, and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity while attending Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, and was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Survivors include his mother, Emma Walker, of Dexter, Connie Walker of Bloomfield; and one brother, Ron Walker of Kennett.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, in the Dexter Cemetery with Rev. Shannon Smith officiating. Mr. Walker will receive full military honors.
