Jannette Pogue

Jannette Pogue, the daughter of the late James Clifford and Ethel Hudgins Campbell, was born in Qulin on Dec. 17, 1935, and died at her home in Puxico on Nov. 29, 2008, at the age of 72.

Mrs. Pogue had taught school in the Malden, Dexter and Qulin Schools, and in Truman, Ark., before moving to Puxico in 1971. She taught school in Puxico until her retirement in 1989. After her retirement she opened and operated her own pre-school in Puxico for 18 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Puxico, the Thursday Culture Club, Sunshine Circle at the Christian Church, and Alpha Delta Kappa. She enjoyed cooking, going to church, teaching children and being with her own grandchildren.

On Sept. 21, 1956, she was married to William Pogue in Elk.

Surviving are her husband, William Pogue of Puxico; one son, Gary Pogue of Dyersburg, Tenn.; one daughter, Cheryl Kinder of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons; two brothers, Buel Campbell of Qulin and Loyce Campbell of Crystal City; three sisters, Joan Swain of Blytheville, Ark., Phyllis Cookson of Poplar Bluff, and Sally Morehead of Qulin.

She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Visitation was held on Monday Dec. 1, 2008, after 5 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Wiley McGhee of Puxico officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
