Mary M. Smith

Mary M. Smith, daughter of the late John M. and Henrietta Fager Gribler, was born in McGee on July 7, 1921, and died at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Dec. 1, 2008, at the age of 87.

Mrs. Smith had lived in the McGee community all her life. She was a member of Wappapello VFW Post 3416. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and raising chickens.

On Dec. 2, 1939, she was married to Henry Alvin Smith. He preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1985.

Surviving are two sons, Virgil Smith of Doniphan and Richard Smith of McGee; two daughters, Ruby Siemer of Shook and Ruth Carver of Wappapello; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Betty Gribler of Lowndes.

She was preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister.

Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with Bro. Larry Underwood of McGee officiating.

Interment will follow in the McGee Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
