Dorothy Botsch, daughter of the late Walter and Lelia Smith Howell, was born on Jan. 10, 1920, in Parma and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at the age of 88.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a charter member of Heartland Quilters where she enjoyed quilting and a resident of Bernie.
On Dec. 24, 1939, she was united in marriage to Ernest Botsch in Dexter. Mr. Botsch preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2007.
She is survived by four daughters, JoAnn Smart of Tucson, Ariz., Mary Lou Bass of Cape Girardeau, Judy Thurston of Bernie and Joyce Ralston of Troutdale, Ore.; two sisters, Mary Davis of Dexter and Opal Rodgers of Gordonville; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Rupert Howell, Reuben Howell and Jack Howell; five sisters, Virginia Smith, Ruth Faulkner, Gladys Smith, Wilma Adams and Willie Carlson.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie.
Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery with Dr. Rev. Tom Bass officiating.
