Orlen Gaines

Orlen Gaines, son of the late W.G. and Lula Lee Dowdy Gaines, was born on Oct. 15, 1911, in Stoddard County and died on Dec. 13, 2008, in the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter at the age of 97.

Mr. Gaines was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, and a resident of Dexter.

On March 1, 1941, he was united in marriage to Virginia Temples. Mrs. Gaines survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Peggy Palmer of Dexter.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Gaines and Harlen Gaines.

Visitation was held from 1:30-3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Dexter. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Dexter.

Interment followed in Chalk Bluff Cemetery with Rev. Louis Lowe officiating.
