Helen L. Summers, daughter of the late Bertis Causey and Della Jones
Causey, was born on April 24, 1914, at Paragould, Ark., and died at Golden Living Center in Malden on Dec. 16, 2008, at the age of 94.
Mrs. Summers had been a school teacher for a short time and was a
homemaker, a member of the Poplins Club Homemakers Extension of Bernie, a
member of the Bernie General Baptist Church, served as church treasurer and
a resident of Bernie. She had retired from Brown Shoe Company.
She was united in marriage to Ralph Robert Summers on Nov. 5, 1938, at Poplar Bluff. Mr. Summers preceded his wife in death on Dec. 5, 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Joyce Hester of Malden and Marilyn Kay Chana and husband Rod of Springfield; two brothers, Bob Causey of Sikeston and Bill Causey and wife Pat, also of Sikeston; two grandchildren, Lori Tritz and husband Matt and Amy Lea and husband Jimmy; three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jackson and Harrison Tritz.
She was preceded in death other than by her parents and her husband by two brothers, Ralph Causey and Marvin Causey; and two sisters, Marqueritte Causey and Delores Smith.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, from 5-8 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.
Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
