Asa Ray Clodfelter, 90, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.

Ray was born July 27, 1918, in Bloomfield and spent most of his adult life in Mississippi, first in Vicksburg and then Yazoo City before moving to Jackson in 1971.

He was a 1936 graduate of Bloomfield High School.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Elaine Clodfelter; two sons, James Ray Clodfelter and David Shibley Clodfelter; three step-sons, Mike Rickels, Gary Rickels, and Jeff Rickels; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Nan Ross and Mary Helsley; and one brother, Amos Clodfelter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Ada Kelley Clodfelter; his first wife, Elizabeth Shibley Clodfelter; one sister, Ruth Hamlin; and three brothers, Kelley Ward Clodfelter, Tony W. Clodfelter, and John L. Clodfelter.

Visitation was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Miss.
