Dorris E. Allen, son of the late Luther E. Allen and Mary Edith Smith Allen, was born on Nov. 9, 1927, at Peach Orchard, and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at the age of 81.

Mr. Allen was a member of the Oneness Pentecostal Church in Malden, a former laborer for Federal Mogul and the Malden Public School System, and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Vernice Malone on Aug. 9, 1994, at Malden. Mrs. Allen survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gary Allen of Malden and Tony Allen of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Karen Shelton of Corinth, Miss.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Sue Johnson; and one grandchild.

Visitation was held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Kirby officiating.
