Shirley Eona Duncan

Shirley Eona Duncan, the daughter of the late Melvin and Ruth Huber Fetters, was born in St. Louis on Jan. 10, 1934 and died at St. John's Hospital in Washington on Dec. 31 at the age of 74.

Mrs. Duncan had lived in St. Louis before moving to St. Clair in 1971. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Clair.

On Aug. 10, 1957, she married James Lee Duncan in St. Louis and he survives of the home in St. Clair.

Other survivors include one son, Charles Summers of St. Clair, two daughters Cheryl Kay Richardson of Richwoods, and Rhonda Lynn Gilchrist of Rolla; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Fetters of New Braunfels, Texas; and one sister, Rita Green of Springfield. She was preceded in death by one sister, Joy Fetters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Orville Richardson of St. Clair officiating.

Interment followed in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
