Ralph G. Thurston

Ralph G. Thurston, son of the late Walter and Ora Deck Thurston, was born on July 5, 1932 in Bernie and died at his Dexter residence on Jan. 4, 2009 at the age of 76.

Mr. Thurston was a veteran of the United States Army, a retired engineer for local clothing manufacturers and a resident of Dexter.

On Oct. 5, 1979, he was united in marriage to Marge Heigle in Bell City. She survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ralph Jr. and Paul; by three daughters; Cindy, Becky and Pam; by two brothers, Raymond Thurston of Boulder City, Nev. and George Thurston of Kennett; by five sisters, Shirley Zimmerman of Bernie, Mary Norman and Melba Baker, both of Dexter; Helen Beauchamp of Texas and Thelma Hartley of Tenn. and by several grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Carl "Bud" Thurston.

Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Dr. Kevin Chenoweth officiating.
