Norma Sells Wilson

Norma Sells Wilson, daughter of the late William W. Whelchel and Ethel Deckard Whelchel, was born on Aug. 7, 1915, in Gideon and died at her residence in Dexter on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at the age of 93.

Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Dexter, a home-maker, and a resident of Dexter.

On Oct. 23, 1932, she was united in marriage to Wesley S. Sells in Corning, Ark. Mr. Sells preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1989. She was then united in marriage to Cecil H. Wilson on Sept. 9, 1995, in Dexter. Mr. Wilson survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides her husband, survivors include four sons, Doyle R. "Bud" Sells of Mobile, Ala., Darrell L. Sells, of Dyersburg, Tenn., Ron Sells of Dexter, and D. Keith Sells of Washington; two step-sons, Vic Wilson of Corunna, Mich. and Stan Wilson of Centre, Calif,; one step-daughter, Earline Keller of Flint, Mich.; three brothers, Elmer Whelchel, Homer Whelchel, and Billy Whelchel, all of Poplar Bluff; three sisters, Beulah Lewis of Desloge, Ruby Ennis of Success, Ark., and Ruth Ponds of West Plains; also by 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her first husband, Wesley Sells and parents, she was preceded in death by on son, Joel Sells; one step-daughter, Linda Bennett; one brother, Ralph Whelchel; and by one sister, Mildred Talley.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 6, 2009.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009. at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Jimmy Kirby and Rev. Tom Bass officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
