Eugene Raymond Harper

Eugene Raymond Harper, the son of the late Henry E. and Ortie Reynolds Harper, was born in Visalia, Calif., on April 23, 1925, and died at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikestson on Jan. 5, 2009, at the age of 83.

Mr. Harper had lived in the Morehouse area most all his life and was raised by his uncle, Sam Robey in Morehouse. He was retired from the Himmelburger-Harrison Furniture Manufacturing Co. in Morehouse. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II and the Korean War.

In 1964, he was married to Maxine Stroud in Bloomfield. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2007.

Surviving is one brother, James Harper of Festus.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Dupre.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Morehouse with the Rev. Rick Breeden of Bloomfield officiating.

Interment will be in the Essex Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Morehouse in charge of arrangements.
