Robert C. Adams, son of the late Floyd Adams and Nannie Brown Adams, was born on June 1, 1929 at Limestone, Ark., and died at his Dexter residence on Jan. 5, 2009 at the age of 80.
Mr. Adams was the office manager for Averett and Son Implement and ProAg in Dexter for over 40 years.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War and he was a resident of Dexter.
He was united in marriage to Lena Tharp on Oct. 31, 1959 at Circle City and his wife survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Crystal Burress of Jackson and Stephanie Thomason of Dudley; by three brothers, Leonard Adams of Bell City, Hearold Adams of Morehouse and A.C. Adams of Sikeston; by five grandchildren, Blake Burress, Caitlin Burress, Jared Thomason, Jacob Standridge and Lindsay Vinson; and one great-grandchild, Taylor Thomason.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Dana Louise Standridge; by four brothers, Delmar Adams, Herschel Adams, Billie Adams and James Adams; by two sisters, Sammie Tinnon and one in infancy.
Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jerry Adams and Rev Donald Adams officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter
