Carlean graduated from Dexter High School in 1956. Following graduation, she worked for several years for local dentist, Dr. Robert Boone in Dexter until she moved to St. Louis where she accepted a position instructing at a dental college. She married in St. Louis and eventually made her home in Gig Harbor, Wash.
After becoming a single parent, she decided to pursue a professional career in writing cookbooks.
Carlean authored and published several cookbooks under the title, "Six Ingredients or Less," and published them under her company name, "CJ Books."
She also toured the Northwest as a successful author, presenting lectures on cooking tips and promoting both her books and her website.
Although Carlean lived in the state of Washington for many years, she never forgot the great times she had as a young girl growing up in Dexter and the many friends and memories she took with her.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Hazen of Gig Harbor, Wash.; two sons, Brian and Michael Johnson, both of Denver, Colo.; one stepson, Steve Johnson of Gig Harbor, Wash.; one brother, Conrad Warren of Dexter and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services are under the direction of Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor, Wash. and services are scheduled for Saturday, Jan 10, 2009 in Gig Harbor.
