Benzle L. Volz, son of the late John E. Volz and Effie McMann Volz, was born on Nov. 16, 1922 in Bernie and died on Jan. 12, 2009 at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 86.
Mr. Volz was a former forklift operator for Triangle Terminal Warehouse in St. Louis, a veteran of the US Army and a Dexter resident.
He was united in marriage to Nancy Sebelle Cogdill who preceded him in death. He was later united in marriage to Nova Rogers in St. Louis and she precede him in death as well.
Survivors include four sons, John Volz of St. Louis, Ben Volz, Jr. of Bloomfield, Rick Volz of Dexter and Kenny Volz of Cape Canaveral, Fla. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Besides his spouses and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ruben Volz; and by two sisters, Ruby Davis and Audrey McCormick.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 at 1 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev Tim Russell officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
