James Floyd Bowen, Sr.

James Floyd Bowen, Sr. was born on Sept. 9, 1934 in Mayflower, Ark., the son of Floyd Bowen and Sara Millie Self Bowen, and died on Firday, Jan. 9, 2009 at Golden Living Center in Dexter at the age of 74.

Mr. Bowen was united in marriage to Virginia Bell on March 5, 1960 and she survives.

He is also survived by two sons, James F. Bowen, Jr. of Sugar Hill, Ga., and Michael A. Bowen of DeSoto; by three daughters, Stella Ann Shahan of Sugar Hill, Ga., Tina Lee Gunter and Debra Jean Hunt, both of Bernie; by one brother, Richard Bowen of Fenton; and by five sisters, Pearl Holt of Dexter, Ruth Richardson of Canalou, Ola Holt of New Madrid, Imogene Cochran of Peoria, Ill., and Ada Gwen Bowen of Bernie; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, one brother, Robert Bowen, preceded him in death.

Visitation will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, after which a funeral service will be conducted at the Bradshaw Chapel in Malden at 2 p.m. with Bro. Bill Garrett officiating.
