Robert "Buster" Plummer

Robert "Buster" Plummer, son of the late R. G. and Elizabeth Plummer, was born in Gideon on June 4, 1920, and died at his daughter's home in Dexter on Jan. 18, 2009, at the age of 88.

Mr. Plummer had lived in Dexter and had lived the past 30 years in Bloomfield. He was retired from the U. S. Air Force and from farming. He had served in the 303rd Bomber Group during World War II and had also served in Vietman. He had received one bronze star for Air Offensive Europe Campaign, air medal with three oak ;leaf clusters and the distinguished flying cross.

On May 5, 1956, he was married to Dorothy Remona Duncan in Dexter.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Remona Plummer of Dexter; one daughter and son-in-law: Joyce and Ken Sanders of Dexter; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Carol Plummer of St. Charles; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Willard Middleton; and one sister, Iva Middleton.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at 12 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Bob Moore of Poplar Bluff officiating.

Interment will be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
