Ronnie Lee Stanford, son of the late Almon Earl and Joy Montez Marsh Stanford, was born in Melbourne, Ark., on Jan. 4, 1947, and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Jan. 19, 2009, at the age of 62.

Mr. Stanford had lived in Bloomfield and Dexter most of his life. Ronnie was retired from the Stoddard County Sherriff's Department after 13 years of service where he worked as a jailer. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. Ronnie enjoyed listening to and playing bluegrass music, riding his motorcycle and camping.

Surviving are two daughters, LaRhonda Billingsley and Kristi Jo Hockman, both of Dexter; three grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Earl Stanford of Batesville, Ark., and Gary B. Stanford of Dexter.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. James Todd of Bernie officiating.

Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
