Several April 8 municipal election races contested

The filing period for the April 8 municipal elections closed Tuesday with a flurry of candidates putting their names on the ballots for school board directors and city government positions in Stoddard County. Four people have filed for Ward 1 in Bell City and the Ward 3 position on the City of Dexter Board drew three candidates. The election in Bloomfield will be interesting as three people filed against incumbent Raymond McAnally and four people filed for two positions on the school board.

Incumbents waited until the last day to file for office in both Essex and Dudley. All positions in both cities drew the incumbents without opposition.

School board positions in Stoddard County are not by position. Generally, there are two positions on the ballot from each district, and the two candidates who receive the most votes will fill those positions.
