Johnnie Darroll Carter of Cape Girardeau died at the home of his daughter in Oak Ridge. He was born Sept. 30, 1940, at Parma, the son of Paul Daniel and Lucille Beatrice Ivie Carter. He and Judy Kimbel were married in1959 and later married Jerry S. Pender in 1963 and has remained unmarried since 1975.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving family includes his mother of Cape Girardeau; one son , Paul D. Carter of Anna, Texas; two daughters, Marla Bowers and Joyce Baker, both of Oak Ridge; one sister, Linda Reid of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Carter of Anna, Texas, Paul D. Carter of Fort Worth, Texas, Tyler Howard, Billie Sue Laxton, Joey Price, Brittany Price, Johnnie Price, Tabbi Reuesler and Josh Price, all of Oak Ridge; great-grandchildren, Addalynn Jo Price, Jayleigh Price, Riley Sieler-Howard, Trenton Price and Collier Howard; one nephew, Kelly Reid; great-niece, Amber Reid; andgreat-nephew, Dustin Reid all of Louisville, Ky; special niece, Tava Hecht; and one aunt, Mildred Humphreys of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his father; a precious great-granddaughter, Abbigail Lin Clary-Price; aunt, Maxine Ivie; uncle, Raymond Ivie.

Johnnie entered the Navy January 28, 1958 and served as peace keeping after the Korean War on the USS Yorktown until the remainder of his enlistment on Oct. 16, 1961.

He will be sadly missed by family & friends.

Visitation was held 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at the funeral home with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.

Interment followed in Lorimier Cemetery. Military honors were provided by Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society.
