Clara Sue Chappell

Clara Sue Chappell, daughter of the late Clyde and Fannie Louise Barnes Quinn, was born in Medina, Tenn., on Oct. 10, 1929, and died at the Heritage House Nursing Center in Portageville on Jan. 31, 2009, at the age of 79.

Mrs. Chappell had lived in Bloomfield from 1960 until moving to Portageville in 2000. She was a member of the First Church of God in Portageville.

On Oct. 11, 1947, she was married to William Wesley Chappell. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1981.

Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Marler of Portageville and Regina Hux of Essex; one son, William Chappell of Cameron; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, after 11 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Pastor Bob Kespelher of Portageville officiating.

Interment followed in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
