Ruth Heitman was born on Dec. 18, 1925 in St. Louis to William and Lydia Horstbrink and died on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 in Dexter.
Mrs. Heitman was a graduate of Beaumont High School and graduated from Central Bible College in Springfield in 1947. During her internship in college, she taught children on the Blackfoot Indian reservation in Idaho. She has been a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God for 52 years.
On August 26, 1950, she married Rev. Frank Heitman. In the early years of their marriage, they served as missionaries to Venezuela and Puerto Rico. From 1952 until 1995, they swerved as pastors in St. Louis, Advance and Dexter.
Mrs. Heitman was also an accomplished musician and artist.
She is survived by her four children: Carol Heitman Lucy and Linda Heitman of Cape Girardeau, Debra Heitman McKay of Dexter and Rev. Ron Heitman of Chicago; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A sister, Estelle Roney and one daughter, Rebecca, preceded her in death.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009 from 5-9 p.m. at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter and on Friday, Feb. 6, from 1-2 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Dexter.
Funeral services will be at the church at 2 p.m.
Rev. Ron Heitman will officiate. Private interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis.
