Mamie Alice Gibson-Campbell, the daughter of the late William E. and Bertha Coats Wader, was born in Dexter on Jan. 17, 1926, and died at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009. at the age of 83.
Mrs. Campbell had lived in Dexter all her life. She was retired from the Hat Factory where she had been a seamstress and had attended the First Assembly of God Church in Dexter.
She was first married to Joseph Stewart, and he preceded her in death. She was later married to James L. Gibson in Southbend, Ind., and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Hope Gibson of Kennett; three sons, Patrick E. Stewart of Birmingham, Ala., Roy Stewart of Mobile, Ala., Timothy Stewart of Granite City, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Joann Stewart; two sons, Jimmie Lee and Billy Joe Stewart; four sisters, Dorothy Phillips, Gladys Wilburn, Lorene Eaton and Irene Carter.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Dean Williams of Dexter officiating.
Interment will be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
