Wilma Jean Dorris, daughter of the late Otto Whitehead and Iva Mae Long Whitehead, was born on Aug, 21, 1921 at Bernie and died at Southern Missouri Healthcare in Dexter on Feb. 17, 2009, at the age of 87.

Mrs. Dorris was a homemaker and a member of New Prospect Church in rural Malden.

She was united in marriage to Noah S. Dorris on Aug. 5, 1939, at Bernie. Mr. Dorris preceded his wife in death on Oct. 2, 1986.

Survivors include one son, Garry Dean Dorris of Bernie; three daughters, Phyllis Jean Mace of Fort Wayne, Ind., Sharon Kay New of Malden, and Bennetta Lynn Harrellson of Dexter; two brothers, Dewayne Whitehead and Eddie Whitehead, both of Davidson, Mich.; one sister, Joyce Allison of Mount Morris, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Other than by her parents and her husband, Mrs. Dorris was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Dewayne Dorris; four brothers, LeRoy Whitehead, Bud Whitehead, Bobby Whitehead and Junior Whitehead; also one sister, Ruby Crow.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Malden Memorial Park Cemetery.
